What to add to your trolley:

  • 500g ostrich mince
  • 250g mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or your preferred herb)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

How to prepare the deliciousness:

1. Sauté Onions and Garlic:

In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until it starts to soften. Add the garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.

2. Cook the mince:

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ostrich mince to the pan. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

3. Add the Mushrooms:

Add the mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and have released their moisture.

4. Season:

Stir in the smoked paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper. Add the Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce for extra depth of flavour. Mix well and let everything cook for another 2-3 minutes.

5. Serve:

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot. This dish pairs well with rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.
